Sarasota Toastmasters Club meets Wednesday mornings, 7:30 a.m. till 8:45 a.m., at Mom's Amish Restaurant, 1247 S. Beneva, close to The Granary at the SE corner of the intersection of Beneva and Bahia Vista. Our meetings are designed to be a fun way to improve our communication skills. Guests are always welcome. For first-time guests, breakfast is on us!

For a special treat, attend this upcoming special event on Thursday, September 9! Contestants from Toastmasters Clubs in the Sarasota area will compete in an annual Humorous Speech Contest, and also a Speech Evaluation Contest, in the Jack Geldbart Auditorium at the Selby Public Library. Winners of this Area Contest go on to compete at Division and higher levels. The contests will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on September 9. Or, attend our own Club Contests at our regular Wednesday morning meeting on August 25th.
The goal of Toastmasters is to build communication skills of its members, especially with regard to public speaking, through regular practice and supportive feedback in a fun, friendly environment. Members practice public speaking, impromptu speaking, and oral evaluation. Toastmasters is both for those aspiring to be professional public speakers, and for the rest of us who just need to cope! Meetings last about 75 minutes, and include delivery and evaluation of prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, "emcee" type roles, warming up the audience with jokes, and more. Members quickly develop confidence and improve their skills in public speaking, as well as in related communication skills like providing constructive feedback to others, introductions, and impromptu speaking.
